Polish Film festival in Gdynia

The thirtieth, anniversary Festival of Polish Films will commence on Monday in Gdynia. The festival will feature 130 films, out of which 21 have been admitted into the primary competitions. Andrzej Wajda will be at the head of the jury.

Participants at the festival will have access and be able to watch all of the movies presented. The main competition will feature films produced last season, amongst them Dorota Kędzierzawska's "I am," Zanussi's "Persona Non Grata," Piotr Trzaskalski's "Master," and Patryk Vegi's "Pittbull." 16 of the 21 films involved in the primary competitin will be having their premiere at the festival. The head of the Jury this year will be the award winning Andrzej Wajda. The members of the jury are scenographer Ewa Braun, oscar winning actress Anna Nehrebecka, director Magdalena Piekorz, the festival's initiator, Prof. Lucjan Bokiniec, producer Tadeusz Lamka, writer Jarosław Sokoł and Paweł Edelemn, a cameraman. Beyond what is in the primary competition, audiences will be given a chance to see Janusz Majewski's new film, and those of Wiesława Saniewski, Marek Piwowski and others, particularly foriegn films made with the participation of Poles in important roles.
