Janda's Theater result of "need for freedom and frustration"

Her name draws large crowds. Krystyna Janda is a film and theater actress, a writer, a journalist, a singer and manager of Her own theater. This is a woman who knows everything about art, and who Polish viewers recognize her everywhere. Here, she talks about her theater.

Only a big star could have taken such a big risk in Poland. Knowing that her name would attract crowds, Krystyna Janda opened her own theater in 2005, at the old Polonia Cinema. "The theater came about due to a need for freedom and due to frustration," says the actress. Throughout the years, the star has had trouble with bringing her own ideas to the stage, "I had to keep asking people." Now - as the manager of her own theater - she decides for herself what she would like to put on. The actress had her debute in 1976 in Jan Świderski's "Virgin Marriages," but she is most recognized for her role in Andrzej Wajda's "Man of Steel (1976). From that point on, Jana always played the role of strong, individualistic women.
