The Polish National Opera
May is a month of high culture at the Polish National Opera, with a variety of world-famous opera and ballet performanc-es gracing the stage
«The most anticipated of these - indeed, one of the highlights of the year- is "Chopin, the Romantic Artist." This two-act ballet examines the legend of Fryderyk Chopin through the prism of the city of Paris, where the composer lived for much of his life. It premiered last week, but other performances are taking place on May 11,12,15 and 22.
May 13 will witness a pair of premieres: "Sudden Rain" and "Between." These operas, writ-ten by young Polish talents, put a new spin on traditional opera. The pieces will also be performed on May 15 and 28.
Verdi's opus "Traviata," one of the best-loved and most often performed operas in the world, will be staged on May 21 and 25, while Bizet's "Carmen" will play on May 16 and 18.
And then on May 30, the ballet "Sleeping Beauty" will be performed, with two show times (12 and 6 pm).
