Roger Waters' Ca Ira in final stages of preparation

The huge market square where the stage is being set for the presentation of Ca Ira is full of workers who certainly do not want for motivation. Despite the hot sun, they do not even take a moment's respite from the preparations which include painting, tightening bolts, putting portions of the stage together, or unpacking materials containing lighting equipment and hundreds of other components. All of this is to get things ready for the premiere of Roger Waters' opera in Poznań Ca Ira.

"Turn it on again!" the yell can be heard when the music from a parked Ford Transit's loudspeakers stops emanating. Needless to say, this is not Roger Waters music. The engineers and technicians are working to the tune of Piersi and Kukiza; Punk versions of classic pieces. The central person in the square is Andrzej Woron, who along with Janusz Józefowicz is behind the scenography of the performance. Only one week to go before the premiere, and the effects of his work are already impressive in their grandoisity. The main stage, built from scratch, given the requirements of Ca Ira, is like a large, snail-like vehicle with a wood floor that ends in an open track room, all with a beautiful throne. This element of the scenography can be found fairly high up - about 6 meters above ground. The interior of the stage is held by alluminum supports; it's a round circus arena.
